AUCKLAND RACING CLUB - The Auckland Racing Club, as we know it today, came into existence on January 9, 1874, when members of two existing clubs - the Auckland Jockey Club and Auckland Turf Club, amalgamated. Racing in Auckland had begun some 32 years beforehand on Epsom Racecourse, or "Epsom Downs" as it was known, which was on a site about three miles from the city. The first meeting on this site took place on January 5, 1842, and the card consisted of two events - the Auckland Town Plate and Valparaiso Stakes Handicap.
COUNTIES RACING CLUB - Feature meeting, DHL Counties Cup day follows closely on Saturday 20th November, with the annual running of the Group two Counties Cup. This event continues to grow and will be a great day out for all. Pukekohe Park continues to play host to both the Training Centre and the Auckland District Apprentice Jockey School. Activities on the Training Track begin at 5.30am Monday to Saturday, with many an apprentice and trackwork rider enduring an early rise.
TE RAPA RACECOURSE - Racing in Hamilton began in January 1866, when the local military commander arranged a sports programme that included four horse races. The Waikato Jockey Club was formed in 1870, and a race card that has survived the years shows that seven races were run on 29 February 1872 - the second day of the meeting. No venue was stated. The only other record concerning that Club was a letter published by the "Waikato Times" on 14 January 1873, complained about the lack of subsequent racing.
WAIPA RACING CLUB - Founded in 1915 the Waipa Racing Club has enjoyed many years of successful racing. We have welcomed back the Te Awamutu/Cambridge Trotting Club who held their first Meeting in December 2006 after more than 30 years.

It is instantly recognisable with its palm lined driveway and stunning backdrop of Mt Te Aroha – famously known as the “place of love” from the Maori translation of the word “Aroha” for love . Famed for its country hospitality and top racing Te Aroha is a favourite course for trainers, jockeys and owners nationwide, not to mention the locals who have long made racing at Te Aroha a “must do” part of the community calendar.
